  1. Is it possible to make a field trigger an action such as a script? I would like to have a "price" field be set whenever the "product id" field is modified without clicking a button to make a script perform. Cannot use a calculation for the price field, as this would cause all records in history to recalculate if the price of that product actually changed.
  2. Does anyone know why I am getting an error message "specified module not found" when I go into web connector administration and add a second host and then try to pull up a page for that host? e.g. first host works fine, but when I add a second domain name host and select which files are hosted by that host and try to call up a web page specific to that new host domain name, it gives this error. The on only way it works is to call it by 'firsthost.com/secondhostname/FMPro?....'
  3. FM Unlimited comes with the web server connector cd. Using the web server connector, you can do SSL connections via FMPro hosted pages. Nothing else needed other than your certificate installed on a webserver.
  4. What is necessary to add a second domain to fmp pages? Example: machine.com/newdomainfolder/FMPro?-db=...... works for as many as you want, but newdomain.com/FMPro?-db=..... causes an error of "specified module not found". The fmp/web/newdomain folder is webshared as FMPro to the new domain just like the web folder is webshared to the machine.com. Would just like to have new domains show their own domains instead of redirecting to machine.com/domainfolder.... Any ideas? Thanks.
  5. Does anyone know if when you put an image in a container field whether or not it's better to click "store link to file only". Does this make fm on the internet pass data quicker than if you import the image into the container field? Thanks again.
  6. Web connector should give you better control over your hosted files, and it's easy to manage via a supplied html page on your machine. BIG ALSO... if you are planning to do SSL, you MUST use web connector. Yes your other running databases need to be on other machines (FM calls this a RAIC). And yes, if you have alot of traffic, you should not plan on FM 5 being able to handle it (hopefully multithreading in 5.5 unlimited will be better).
  7. Just a note to say that the CC_Authorize plugin from Waves in Motion www.wmotion.com works great so far. Real time credit card processing, plus it comes with a sample shopping solution if you are starting from scratch, that may give you some ideas.
  8. Does anyone know for certain which is the more taxing on the system and filemaker when going from one page to another? Using thte -recid and -edit, or if I'm carrying around the orderID as the 'token and using orderID and -find. They both allow thte same effect, but I would rather use the one that doesn't tax filemaker. We just put up a FM site for a large company who sent emails to approx. 200 employees telling them what time it would be live,,, YEP... within ten minutes filemaker stopped responding, files had to be recovered. This went on for nearly three hours until the people on the east coast went home for the day. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I imagine the single-thread thing in unlimited is what caused the crashing, but until 5.5u, I'm not sure what to do other than set up a RAIC, but come on, for only 200 users hitting filemaker...Thanks.
  9. Does anyone know why a message of "specified module could not be found" would be displayed when I add a virtual host to the web connector configuration? The only domain I can use to access filemaker webs is the original machine domain. Web Connector configuration tells me that the new host is added and I have selected files, but when you type in the url with the virtualhost.com/FMPro?..... the message is:"specified module could not be found" Thanks.
  10. Am trying to make a webform show a pulldown menu of only the checked value list items within a field, but every way I try it, the entire value list is shown.
  11. Running Filemaker 5 Unlimited on IIS5 and a Linux/Apache machine running SendMail, all forms submitted from a Filemaker webpage that send an email get "timestamped" with a time that is 5 hours ahead of the actual time. All mail forms sent from the same machine using a web browser or cgi form page get stamped with the proper time, only the filemaker form pages are stamped incorrectly. (The mail comes right away, it is just stamped that it was sent 5 hours later)
  12. When submitting a form and the result page is served up by Filemaker, a person using IE for Mac cannot refresh without getting an error. Is there a way to make it repost the form data as Netscape does without putting all of the form data into the url address bar?
  13. Is it possible to derive a visitor session ID from IIS5 as a person enters a site and make this the Record Serial # as apposed to auto-enter serial number or a calculated serial number?
  14. I have recently purchased cc_authorize from Waves in Motion at http://www.wmotion.com for a very reasonable fee. It works great with only about 10 minutes of setup to see your first authorizations. This product works as an inline such that you can configure your response pages for the results (approve, decline, invalid card number, etc). A.
  15. Better:Instead of using the OP (equals) in your search form, do this... (assuming your username field is called email) <INPUT TYPE=hidden name="email" value="=="> <INPUT TYPE=text name="email" value="" size="20"> keep the first email entry just before the text box, don't know why, but this seems to work very well. Works too:If you use the OP (equals), make your text box value something like "youremail@yourserver.com" and boldly note for them to type their email address within the "quotes".
