Hi all, I am facing a problem with my FM database. I have a few users on the network, who access the same database. I tried using the multi-user sharing on this database, but the biggest problem I am facing is everytime it unselect the export order. I m curious to know: 1) Is there any way I can specify the export order so that I do not have to do manual export and use replace the export order in all scripts I am using to export. 2) Is using the multi user access is the best way to use it on network. Ihave FM server also I do not know how it is different from the multi-user access (other than monitoring the guests and scheduling) 3) Is it possible that I can have more than one export order on the same database. Hi all, Is it possible to execute the script when layout is changed, is there any event like that where we can specify it ? The only way, I could find out, was not allowing users to change the layout and use buttons and assigen them script to change the layout and run the script. But is there any other way too thanks Aditya

Hi Experts, I have two databases, I want to perform the find request in one database based on given conditions and want to populate the fcount of found records in second database. Whenever I try this everything works fine but instead of populating the records found in first table I get the records in the current table. Please help me Thanks

Hi all, Is there any way I can create my own function in FM. I have a very long calculation and I repeat that calculation in many files and many fields, although I am writing same code each time whenever I need that calculation. I tried but could not make out how can I create my own function. Any help in this direction will help me a lot. Thanks in advance.

I am using Mac OS X File Maker Pro 5.5 Excel 2001 and I have tried all options to export but only DBF option exported the headers that too truncated. Thanks

Just to add few more thing in my problem I mentioned, I have discovered I can not see only those fields which are of 'calculation" type in the "table view" only but I can see all fields in form view. Hope this will help you to catch the problem and give me soltion thanks

Hi all, I have a FM DB, I want to export to excel so that users can use it in the way they want after I process the data from the FM5.5. The problem I am facing is while exporting the data all field names are truncated to 8 characters, I have tried all possible formats but could not solve the problem. Hi all, I have one DB with 107 fields, and I want to have a layout to show all fields. I can create the layout without any problem but when I view in table view I can see only 66 fields, I do not know why, I know I am doing some stupid mistake but please guide me so that I can see all fields. Hi, I am using FM5.5 on Mac and I face the same problem, but the problem is not limited to the layout mode, it is there while defining the fields too. The workaround I am using is very simple, I can "Cut" so I cut the required text and paste immediately and then data is there in clipboard so I can paste wherever I want. So use Cut and paste at the same time from where u cut and then paste at the desired place too. HTH

Hi LiveOak, Thanks for the reply, actually by same I meant Same Database . I think the "find" will slve my problem, actually I tried so many options but didn't try find one. Thanks once again for the help

Hi all, I have a big database and I want to prepare various reports from the same based on some conditions (say I have a field where I have values 1,2,3,4,5 so I want 5 reports one with 1 only and second with 2 only and so on) I am just curious to know how is that possible, as I am new to FM so I really could not mke out how it can be done. Hi All, I am facing a problem with the importing order. I created a FM file where I want to import the data from another excel file on a regular basis. The probelm started with as I missed one field to define in filemaker table matching with the excel file so i created new field and moved to the desired location in "define field" . Now whenever I try importing the data, the new field is always in last and I can not correct the problem using the "view by". I can not use the matching names as the excel table contains data only and no field. any help will be appreciated. Thanks Aditya

Thanks for the mail. I can now see the shared files on web after installing file maker pro 5.5 but still curious to know why was the problem thanks aditya
