  1. I think I described the situation in correctly. It's been working fine for a few years now. Perhaps what I meant to say was "multiple users" are allowed.
  2. We have two computers. Both of us have full accesss. The filemaker files reside on my computer. If I open the files first, my partner is allowed access. When my partner opens the files first, I am not allowed access. (I get the message that the files were not closed properly, etc.) Is there any way around this?
  3. Thanks, John. I'll take a stab at implementing this later today. ~Shoil
  4. My portal lists all accounts owned by a specific customer. I want to create a field that will total the number of the ACTIVE accounts (elimiating the CLOSED ones). The result I'm looking for is a number of ACTIVE accounts that I can use for billing.
  5. Thank you so much. This worked perfectly. I've also used it to sort the records in a portal so that the most recent invoice is at the top of the list. Thanks again! ~~S
  6. I'm working with a Domains database and an Invoices database. I need a script to locate the most recent invoice for each domain, then record the payment status (successful, declined, expired, etc.) in the Domains database. I understand Filemaker relationships pretty much, it's writing the script to find the most recent invoice that is baffling to me. This seems like it should be so simple. Shucks.
  7. I've got a script that uses the Send Mail command to create a message in Eudora. Worked great in OS9. In OSX, the script will open Eudora (or bring it to the front) but doesn't compose the message. Anyone have a clue?
  8. Problem -- Over the course of a month I export 200-300 personalized emails from Filemaker to Eudora. I'm simply sending the contents of a calcuated field. I want some of the lines to be in BOLD or RED and right now I have to go through each email by hand. Is there a way to format this text in Filemaker so that I can avoid this tedious task? (HTML tags don't work.) ----Thanks in advance, The Scripting Novice
  9. Blessings upon you, my fellow FileMakerPro User! This was too easy. I have spent countless hours exporting single records and compiling them in a text editor. I am slapping myself on the forehead for not asking this question months ago. I bow to the wisdom and generosity of folks in the forum. Thanks!
  10. My invoice db contains thousands of records. Is there a way to search for non-consecutive invoices -- for example -- invoice nunbers 2222, 3333, 4444, 5555 -- without having to search for each invoice individually?
  11. Is it possible to include field names when exporting records? This would streamline the process of importing records into my accounting software. Thanks.
  12. I just don't get it, sorry... Two databases -- Main and Affiliates I want to create a portal in the Affiliates DB so that I can type in a "Domain Name" and have it fill in the "Account Status" field and the "Start Date" field from the Main DB. Then, down the road I will create a calculation field in the portal that will figure a commission for the Affiliate (based on the Account Status and the Start Date). Is this reasonable?
  13. What I'm trying to design is a set of records to keep track of commissions for an affiliate program. One idea we had was to give each referred account a unique number, then calculate the commission on their individual record and post the result on the affiliate's record (probably in a related database). We will pay out the commission when the affiliate's account reaches $50 or more. Then funds will begin to accumulate again. I will post again when I have thought this through a bit more. All ideas welcome and greatly appreciated.
  14. I need to calculate an initial commission fee, then a monthly residual fee for 2 years (as long as the referred account stays open for the 2 years). Can anyone give me a clue as to how to begin? Much appreciated....
