  1. Thanks but i'm not clear how to use the calculators for this one I have read the manual but not clear. I realise i must have a date stamp for when the field is modified that is the field with the value list , because i want date information in the report. Maybe i'll explain more it is a contacts database ,contact name will be field A the contacts are contacted etc.. at certain times the method of contact is the field we'll call B ( value list ) date field B modified will be field C how can i do this i need more info on calculation field. so report should have field A as column 1 value list x10 items headings for other columns date ( field c) put under appropriate heading from value list . so if field B was set to "telephoned" date c would be entered into the column heading "telephoned" I'm baffled and very new user give me a hint or 2 please please

  3. I have been asked to produce a report from a database unfortunately the user needs it to be based on one field using the value lists for that field as the column headings. Then the value in the columns would be date information. I am not experienced enough to know if this can be done. Each record has modified/create date time but the field in question doesnot have date information. What i really want it to do is say value x was selected for client x on date x client name field | Field value 1 | field value 2 | etc... acme inc. | 22/10/01 | big company | | 10/10/01 etc.... any help greatly appreciated clem UK
  4. my database when accessed through a browser will not accept the UK style of date dd/mm/yyyy . my regional settings etc.. are ok this is with ie5.5 pc / ie5 mac using fm app it's ok on the browser you have to use the usa entry mm/dd/yyyy but after accepting this it will insert the correct format into the database as dd/mm/yyyy , why will it not take this format as an entry?: this is puzzling me
  5. when i create a layout the margins and borders are ok when i go to browse mode the form edges go on for ever to the right and below. when opening templates this does not happen and what you see is pretty much what I want. I have looked at the set-up/prefs but cannot see what to do please help ps i am very new to this but an experienced Mac user of 12 years
  6. I have been creating a simple contacts/company database.for a design company doing logo's company branding marketing etc.. I have asked if i can perform an extra facility which has got me stumped. Quick explanation 5 layouts company details,contact,type of work/business,stratagy,reports this is all fine if you have one contact at a company and one type of business relationship. I have been asked to allow for multiple contacts at a company that may be large and may be doing different business therefore the 2nd and 3rd layouts/feilds contained must be able to be repeated upto 5 times. i need something on the main layout to give some indication of whether there is more than one brief happening and link to the contacts and type of business layouts I'm even confused when explaining this please help hope you get the idea.
