  1. Thanks a million for a really fast reply. Not sure how it works but it works perfectly. F
  2. Hi I have a Filemaker 8.5 database that among other things I use to import images into container fields. I have a text field "PathName" for the path to the imported image and a text field "FileName" for the file name of the imported image. I am trying to create a calculation to extract some of the text from "PathName" which is never the same number of words or letters from the left or right - so I can't use the LeftWords or RightWords functions. But if I could subtract "FileName" from "PathName" I would be left with a constant where I could use RightWords to get the info I need. Is this possible (or is there another easier way to do it) Examples of the text are as follows: PathName: file://XServe_Archive/Reference Files/Archive 08_01 /AATGI_Identity Badges 2008_3712/Badges reverse.pdf FileName: Badges reverse.pdf Info I need to extract: 3712 PathName: file://XServe_Archive/Reference Files/Archive 08_01 /Expo_On the Water PDF ticket_3744/On The Water Boat Club Ticket.pdf FileName: On The Water Boat Club Ticket.pdf Info I need to extract: 3744 As you can see, the info I need to extract is the number directly before the "FileName" in "PathName" (without the '/') Any help would be really appreciated Thanks Frank
  3. I am having a similar problem to QuillPro. I am manually summarising data using global fields and Get Summary function. The results are placed in one field. This field needs to be a text field as there is text in this field as well. As a result, all numbers are stripped back to form they were input. So "5,005.50" ends up as "5005.5" etc.. Is there any script that will maintain the 2 decimal places and the thousands separator? Merge fields will not work for me as there may be a number of results in each summary.
  4. Has anyone used Filemaker Pro 6 on a XServe running OSX Server 10.2.8 or later to host an internal database? I know Filemaker Server has problems on OS X Server, so I reckon using Multiuser on FMP6 would offer me enough speed etc to cope as I only have 2 users. But before I move the database to the XServe I want to make sure there no known problems... Thanks Frank
  5. I'm having the same problem as well with FMP 5.5v2 and Illus 10.0.3 on OS X 10.1.4. I have 1GB of RAM on a Dual 1Ghz Mac, so it's not a memory issue. It doesn't always happen and it doesn't seem to depend on the size of the elements copied in Illustrator - it happens with both small items and complex files. Also, there is the dreaded spinning ball problem in Illustrator (when you go back into Illustrator having been in any other application). This problem seems to be a lot worse if Filemaker is open. If Illustrator hangs with the spinning ball, force quitting Filemaker sometimes stops it! Any ideas?? Frank
