  1. Thanks for the instructions... I appreciate it. -) Elgin
  2. I didn't understand how to use the Replace suggested by danjacoby so I tried the other. Does Replace work better?
  3. This worked great! Thanks! Elgin
  4. I have used the ScriptMaker to clear 4 fields in a layout using the "Clear" script. This is working fine but I need a way to press a button to clear the four fields for ALL records, not just the current record being browsed. Any ideas?
  5. Looks like I'm doing it the best way possible for now. Thanks again for your comments.
  6. Please ignore the fact that all the three fields are the same. I just copied them quickly to show you what I am seeing.
  7. Hello, Yes, there are ungrouped. Under the Arrange Menu, Ungrouped is grayed out. The only option is to Group. I'm not sure how to attach an image but if you look at the following link, you will see what I'm seeing. http://199.165.75.12/elgincalendar/resize.jpg Thanks
  8. I appreciate your comments. I have been doing most resizing such as copy/paste a field and then assign the correct field to the new pasted field and aligning to the left and making all the same length. As with Dilucaugo68's case, I can not select all fields, ungroup and resize to make it work. When I do this, it will make all fields small enough to fit into an area of the size I typed for one field. I'm using FMP 5.5. I was just hoping there would be a faster way to ensure all field sizes were exactly the same. Working with relations was not the issue, I already have that, I still need to make sure all fields are the same size. I'll just do it the same why I have been. Thanks again. :-)
  9. The fields are used for atttendance in a school database.
  10. Probably a basic question but I can't seem to find the answer. If I have 50 fields in a layout in rows and columns... What is the easiest way to make them all the exact size. I know I can do them one at time using object size but when I select them all and try it, it forces them all in an area of the size of one field. It seems there has to be a faster way to do this.
  11. Just a quick note to let all those who helped out in this. I truely appreciate it! I think I found the REAL place to learn. :-) Elgin
  12. First, I want to thank both of you for your time and the solution to my queston. This was my first post and your response was fast and wonderful Thank You! Next, what is a good book to aid in learning tricks like the one above? I have "FileMaker Pro" by Nolan Hester, "FileMaker Pro Advanced" by Cynthia L. Baron/Daniel Peck and "Learn FileMaker Pro" by Jonathan Stars. These seem to be good books but they seem to lack detailed explaniations on how all formulas/functions are used. Finally, the Trim() worked great on spaces but not returns. Is there a way to prevent an accidental return? Again, thank you very much for your help! Elgin Cook Alaska, USA
  13. I am trying to make a field that will make the name of a student possessive so their name can be used in a possessive form automatically. Is there a way to make a formula/function that will look at the name of a student, see if the last letter of their name is
