multiple fields exportation problem
bloodyhell replied to bloodyhell's topic in Script Workspace and Script Triggers
thank you very much Ted S, that solved something... But why do I have to do that? and how can I do to avoid doing it all the times I need to import something?? thansk... -
Hi everybody! I'm an university student and not very expert of filemaker unfortunately but I have to help my dad solving a problem and I'm not able to do it... We just upgraded from filemaker 4 pro to filemaker 7 pro (a big jump I know) in a small office (one mac and 2 pc). Now everything is fine (or better fixed ) except one problem with multiple fields very annoying. there's a table with code as primary key, some others single fields and some multiple fields... Now working with it gives no problem, but we have to import its record from another table! The problem is that filemaker pro 7 (4 were working "fine") import records, but put just once the single fields and works fine with the multiple fields (split the value in different records). Now I don't really know what to do, I tried everything passed in my mind, but with no result... Can you help me please?? Is there a way to tell filemaker to write the single field record every time? or maybe another workaround to get it working?? Thank you very much and sorry for my poor english...

first of all, hi to everybody and sorry if my english is not correct, I'll try to do the best Anyway in my dad's office we're still using filemaker pro 4 (very old I know but it still works) and win 2k on a couple of pc... I'm trying to go back to macintosh (i'm using my ibook) and put FM pro 7 on mac and on the computers... There's a big problem we've got now with fm pro 4, we use a network shared folder for the databases, and each pc has a printer shared attacched to it. When we launch a script that changes the page setup (reducing for example) on a computer and the other one do the same the settings of the printer are set back to default (100%). This is very annoying, and we didn't have this problem with win98 and fm pro 4. I've read that with fm7 pro it's better to open a remote file and not leaving a shared folder, is that right? But in this way if I'm right the "server" need to have already opened all the files we need on the client, how can I solve it? And last question, there will be on the lan macosx and win2k pro, do you know if there are any problems?? I mean, scripts will work fine without changing them every times?? Thank you very much for your patience and ask me if don't understand my poor english...

bloodyhell replied to bloodyhell's topic in Windows
So do you think my problem can be this one: when filemaker sees that another user launches the script puts back the setting to 100%, is it possible?? and how can I solve it? does anyone know how a print server works?? thanx in advance! -
postscript printers problems in a win2000 network!
bloodyhell replied to bloodyhell's topic in Windows
ok Anatoli... I've tried another important thing and I found out where is the problem! I linked to the same computer both the printers (in local) and now everything is fine! they don't fight and scripts work! but the problem is that if you try to print from the other pc the settings go back to 100% and the problem still remains. so... any ideas?? I even tried to logon from the other pc using the same user, but it still doesn't work! -
I've got a problem too! after I swapped to a new router (but I don't think that is the problem) we get sometimes a message like that: filmaker is already running for the maximum number of people, do I need another licence or I can do something else?

postscript printers problems in a win2000 network!

I was thinking, if my printers support postscript language (one level 3 and the other one level 2) I may try to print on a generic postscript printer, so it should be the same for both! Yesterday I tried to print on lpt2 (theorically the laser color port) with the generic driver, but the fax machine (on lpt1) started to print madly!! -

postscript printers problems in a win2000 network!
bloodyhell replied to bloodyhell's topic in Windows
We normally use ps drivers because they keep informations about print setup in scripts. When there was windows 98 we used to print indifferently from one of the two printers obtaining the same results! but now the question is, how can I get my color laser printer working?? -

postscript printers problems in a win2000 network!
bloodyhell replied to bloodyhell's topic in Windows
alright, I downloaded and installed the adobe postscript drivers, but I still haven't understood what are they for! they ask me to install to a printer, I can't find mine and I check generic postscript printer. Then when it tries to make a proof print the fax-machine starts to print and doesn't stop!! so... do I have to install postscript adobe drivers first or first are the printers drivers?? -

postscript printers problems in a win2000 network!
bloodyhell replied to bloodyhell's topic in Windows
thank you very much for your help! but... why do I have to download postscript drivers (and why from adobe?)?? Aren't they already in win2000? I'll try anyway... what is the updater exactly?? I tried with both FM pro 4 and 6... -
thank you very much dykstrl for your answer! I thought something like that, but I don't understand why filemaker's programmers didn't solve this problem...!? Using windows98SE scritps were working in the same way for both printers! So if I set up all the layouts that will be printed between the page margins do you think everything will be fine?? It's gonna be a long work, but it still is a solution... thanx

how can it be possible?? I had a similar problem, and it started to be just when we upgraded to win2000! there must be another way I think to solve this problem, duplicating all the scripts is a long work!

I've got a network between 2 pc's, 1 color laser printer and 1 laser printer. The computers are both printer client and server (1 printer is linked in local to both). The program used is filemaker pro 4.0, but I don't think that is the problem, 'cause the trial of filemaker pro 6.0 doesn't make any difference. The problems started when I upgraded the 2 machines with windows 2000 (from win98SE), we use postscript printers drivers, and there are many differente settings to print properly. These settings need to be saved on the file to record a script (the same as macros more or less), and it always worked fine with win98se. But now changing (or sometimes even using) a script that uses printer setups from one machine sets back to default the scrips on the other machine. Even just triyng to use another printer instead of the local one gives problems. I think the problem is in the "brigde" between filemaker scripts, postscript printers and network printers drivers in windows2000! Please help me, the problem is very annoying, I would be very grateful if you can give me an hand! bye
