  1. FP server OS9 I am only guessing this is where I should be posting my question. I recently put all db on a server to host through out the company, which is located in another area in the building. When I launch the program, I am a guest. This will not allow me to change from multi-user to single user mode, or view any password settings, even though I have the master password?:? Is this standard server settings? Do I have to do all the changes from the location the files are being hosted from?, or is there another way? :confused:
  2. see, NEWBIE. Here is the attatchment
  3. Okay, to get a better understanding about what I have, here it is. This is what I have as a user interface, it is constant across the board. What I like and call "bells and whistles" are the quick access to email & URL features that I found in button/script. (side note: when I send an email, it automatically opens up in the "drafts" section in email? Can this be redirected to the "new" section?:??) Anyway, these little tools are great, so of course, now I want more. When I added these two little features it made the layout more interesting and more useful to the user. I am completely open to critique, just be gentle and remember NEWBIE, NEWBIE,NEWBIE Thanks again, Sincerely, Scott
  4. Hello, I have a basic db setup, but now I am looking for some really neat bells and whistles to add to WOW the user. If you are kind enough to share some of your creations, please give it to me in a "FileMaker for Dummies" format, I am just a Newbie after all. Thanks in advance Have a great day!   5. ? That does exactly what I need it to do, I know I tried that before? Maybe I was thinking to much into it, cause I just didn't see it! Thanks for pointing me back.:}
  6. Hello, That's going to be my second option. If this fails. Isn't there some way to script it so that I can go into find mode (do the find of a particular record), then continue the script to take me back to show all records?:???
  7. fmp5.5 I am not the biggest fan of the "status area" in my final layout. But I like the features in which it contains. One of the problems I am having is with the "Find" function. I have incorporated a find button into my layouts but am having difficulty trying to link it up to the appropriate action? Right now, it will execute a find. but when it gets to the found record, there is no way to get back to "all records"? -Except to double click on "find" again & cancel the request. I've tried running script, directly attaching "perform find" nothing seems to get me back to where I started before the find?
  8. Vague yes, sorry, but everyday I am learning more & getting new ideas on what all this is about. It's all really new, and I am getting more & more excited to see it all up and running. No one here has a clue about FM, so this is helping with all kinds of information that I need to passed on to those who have given me this assignment. Thanks for your time THANKS AGAIN
  9. From the professionals to the beginners, I was wondering, how long it generally takes from the planning to the serving of a new database. My dB will be used for all internal Co. info. & resources. (as vague as this description is) I was just wondering how long this will generally take to create a system like this?::??? Sincerely, Newbie, fmp5.5 & fmp server
  10. ya, that didn't open up anything for me. But thanks for trying, I did get it solved. }
  11. Is this not possible?
  12. FMP 5.5 user I have a main interface controlling all databases linked to it. It will eventually be put onto FMServer but not until I can controll with ease to myself & the users. I would like to set it up so that a user first logs-in with their access level code (alc), which would open the main interface. Then be able to cruse in & out of all the db's with out having to enter there alc every time they went into a new db. (1 code, 1 time = access to all bd.) Right now, it's set up like this: Open -(no alc required) Main interface page opens, (which links to 5 db's). alc is required for each db to open. (5 alc's, 5 db's = access to all) I want: Open- alc required to open, = main interface opens, w/access to all db's. (security levels in tact) Doe's this call for some serious research, and if so, where do I start. Please, please, please, THANK YOU, in advanced. Sincerely, Scott
  13. Thank you Kurt, you are the capt.
  14. Kurt, Any chance you can run that by me again, but give me the "Main Interfaces for DUMMIES" version?
  15. No, I had 5 records in one database. All the fields were different from record to record. So, every time I added a blank record, I would get a blank record for each different area. Then when I went to delete a blank record, I would loose info without knowing it. But, that is all okay now because everything is in it's own database. I think I am just frustrated that I have to make all these new databases & links to each other, not knowing a simpler way?
