  1. Thank you Ted, I wasn't aware of that. I probably do way more work for lack of knowledge. Larry
  2. We have found a virus that caused the problem. Thanks for all the help. Larry
  3. One copy of FileMaker Pro 6 One program I will update the status of this after I check the computer for Virus and install another copy of Filemaker. Thank you for your help Larry
  4. The file that I import is changed with a series of scripts. The scripts will not normally be ran again untill after the data is deleted and the next file is imported. However, if you run the reformulate script it will restructure the existing data so the scripts will function. The code is not complete and not the issue. If you open and close the program without doing anything, with no data, it won't open again until you manually stop filemaker in Task Manager. I will try another small FM program tommorrow to see if the problem is computer or program. I will also do some virus testing. I believe it is the computer or the FM software that I installed. Larry
  5. My file named Plaza1 is attached Larry myfile.ZIP
  6. I tried that and it won't let me attach an FP5 type file. Larry
  7. On my computer, when I close my program, Filemaker is not open in task manager. Why would it leave it open on my customers computer. The program works fine at my office and at home. It is a very simple program that imports a file and makes a report with no links and it does the same thing with no records, just open and close. No closing script or network. Application won't attach. How do you post a file? Larry
  8. No plug in and it does it no matter how you close. Larry
  9. Installed Filemaker and my program on a differant computer and it works great. It won't open a second time. I discovered that it's not closing Filemaker on exit. If you use Task Manager to stop process and close Filemaker, it will work again. Larry
  10. I want to export all data using a script once a week. I want to use a differant filename each week. An embedded Date or a sequencial number would work. Is there a way to automatically use a differant filename in the export feature in a script? I could use a DOS batch file and call it up from Filemaker. I would like to do it from Filemaker. Larry
  11. I have written a program that compares invoice.txt files to the cost files the customer expects to pay. I can import the files as delivered and all works well. Is there a way to automate the function of saving an Email attachment to a specific sub-directory? We may get 70 to 100 files a week and I don't want to open each email and save the attachment manually. They all come from the same place and we know the filename and subject text. The second issue: I can import the known filename automatically. There may be duplicate filenames come in within the week that all need to be imported. So, I need to change the file name on a duplicate and be able to handle it in my program. Can this be accomplished within filemaker or is there a program that will handle it? Larry
  12. I, my company, has lost most everything in a fire. My data files are backed up but lost the Filemaker disk. I use version 6 and I need it for 5 users. Should I purchase version 7? Will my version 6 programs work ok? What should I expect to pay for a 5 license package from a reliable vendor? Larry
  13. Master file is all invoices from vendor for all stores. Each store has an item price file with all items and price. If I combine them into one file, and use the store number in both files to link, how do I compare item #999 in store #1 to Item #999 in the price file? There are 75 records with item #999. There is only one record with store #1 and item #999. I can find all store #1 files in the master, how do I link to store #1 only in the price file?
  14. I believe the only way I can accomplish what I need is with 75 differant layouts with the fields in each layout specific to each of the 75 files. These are 150KB files with about 20 fields and 1100 records. Is there any problems with doing it like that? Larry
  15. Sorry, I thought I filled that out. FM6 with 2000. The relationships will be in the master file linked to each of the 75 store files. When I find the records in the master file using the store number field, I want to link to the file for that store only. The store number field will be in both files. I could make 75 layouts, one for each file. I would rather use one layout and find a way to point to the proper file from that layout.
