OK, I created a relationship between the Contacts (table chosen in Layout setup) table and the Preferences table (which contains the global text field). Now I can enter the field... but I'm not sure why it worked.

I've looked at the search field in the Business Tracker sample app... and that one works through the web. (although I had to modify the scripts to be able to get to that layout through the web)

I have a layout that I use to search for contacts in my database. I'm using a global text field to search for these contacts by last name. Works fine in filemaker but when i go to the layout through the web I can't enter the field... Anyone know why that would be?
