Howdy FM19 Gurus, I am a simple photographer who has been using Filemaker for my billing and database purposes since FM 7. I have tried a few times to use quickbooks or other apps, but they just don't do it for me. The issue I am having, and maybe it is a simple one, is I am getting a message that says, "Provided name and password cannot be used to access file." I have my username already in the first field, and the password, or what I think was the password is not working. I have tried a number of different passwords too. I have uninstalled and reinstalled FM19. So I don't think it is an issue with the FM program. I did recently update to Big Sur a few weeks ago, and can't remember if I have used FM since then. I think the problem is a keychain issue. I am at a loss. I have looked at my keychain access and did not see the login listed there. I use FM19 maybe an hour a week, and please forgive my ignorance. I just want back into my billing program that has all my clients info and my billing layout. Thanks in advance, Paul

I hope this is in the right forum... I am running FM 10 Advanced on a Mac G5 desktop 10.5.8. Last week when i tried to use my billing program, I had to rebuild each database, but it worked. So this week I go to do some billing and all the files are missing. I have a backup, but I am wondering where all the info disappeared to. Thanks in advance. paul

Guys, Every few years I end up here with a question or two. I have a new g5 running 10.5 and I was wondering if FM 7 will work on that platform. I use FM 7 for my invoicing. I dug around a bit on this site and did not see an answer.

I will give it a try. It works in user B and I want it to work in user A. Do I just switch these in the prefs of FM? Do I need to restart after I make changes? Thanks again Lee. You have tossed me a lifeline.

Thanks again Lee, Yes I have tried the option click to open. The weird part is that there is a second user account on my Mac and I thought I would see if I can open the FM template there. It asked for the keychain, I punched it in, and, sure enough, it works like it should. I never have used that second user account. I think the Tech guys that fixed my Mac last week set it up. I still would like to get FM running in MY account.

Yes this file was on the computer when it crashed and burned. No the file was not open when it crashed. The password I have, does not seem to work. I think this is what the problem is, Lee thanks for your help and input. I don't think the file is corrupted, I do have a back up, but I am afraid of loosing my templates. I will try to figure out the password issues. It may be a keychain problem. paul

Guess I should be more specific, FM does open, but I can't add or modify it in any way shape or form.

Hey guys, You helped me out a few years ago and... Things have been running smootly for two years, but my G4, 10.4.10. crashed and burned. I had it repaired, but now when I try to open my FM billing files, it won't open. I get a message that says, "this action cannot be performed because this file is not modifiable." I don't use the application but once a week, but I love the way it is layed out. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a simple fix? I am a FM novice, so I apologize in advance. paul

Thanks for your replies, I looked on the FM web site and don't see a download for 6. What is FMI? Is that a different site than the FM site? Sorry for my ignorance.

I am updating from OS 9 to OS X yes I am in from the dark side. Okay here is the deal, I have a billing and accounting progam on Pro II that I love. Is there a way to convert the old template to the new FM7P? I really don't want to pay to have a new invoicing progam done. Thanks in advance. Y
