  1. I work for a company and we have been traditionally using Mac hardware to host our FileMaker servers. We have hosted FileMaker 6 & 7 on various G4s & G5s. However we are now looking at purchasing FileMaker 8 . In order to cut costs we can purchase a pretty good dell poweredge for $1500 instead of an expensive Xserve. Would you say that FileMaker Server is better suited for Windows or Mac. This box will be mostly used on the internet by our clients so it will be exposed to the internet. Please only reply with good experiences, not the typical "Windows sucks" or "Mac rules" responses, I am going to use the arguments here to either agree with the decision to buy Windows or oppose (as it stands I oppose). Thanks guys!
  2. Hey there, First time posting here but I got a problem on my hands. I have a Xserve running FileMaker 7 Server with IWP. Customer A sees their databases and works on them and occasionally gets a popup (on both Mac & Windows) of a website of Customer B who also runs their databases off of the same unit (but their website is located on another unit in the data center). My gut tells me this isn't possible but I have had another customer on our Filemaker box say that they are getting Customer B's site as well in a popup window. First of all... is this even possible? Customer A, B & C have their FM databases hosted on the same Xserve. Customer A & C are sometimes seeing Customer B's website (not databases) in the form of a popup when they have their own databases open in their browser (Safari, Firefox, IE). Customer B's website is hosted on another Xserve. The only thing I could think of in this case is that something in Customer B's database is causing his website to open, however Customer A & C have no access to the customer's website. Any help on this matter would be well appreciated! Yvo
