  1. Hi there - I would appreciate any help on this issue. I am running a Filemaker Pro 8 Server Advanced and have set up several databases to run online with instant web publishing. I have no issues logging in to the system, but several of my colleagues have told me that when they follow the link to the IWP site, their browser flashes back and forth between the iwp_auth.html and iwp_home.html pages and does not let them log in. Others have said that when they enter a username and password, the site simply flashes back to the auth.html page even though the credentials were correct. The address of my server is http://cfa-fmdb.bu.edu - and you can log in with username Student and password Welcome. Any idea what would be keeping people from logging in? Thanks a lot.
  2. Hey there - I have a budget database set up with a summary field that totals up all of the budget items found in a search. In Filemaker itself, the field calculates the total just fine. But when I log on to instant web publishing, the total field just shows the amount of the first item. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.
  3. Hey Guys - I have a database that serves as a rental system, and there's a field that counts the number of time conflicts with each new reservation. I want to create a new field that will check the conflict field for all existing records and enter "Yes" if there is a record with a conflict number higher than 5, and "No" if there is no number higher than 5. Any tips on what function/calculation to use? Thanks a lot.
  4. Hey there - just a quick question I have a customer who wants to have different tables be sorted differently upon startup, but it sounds like Filemaker always sorts by creation date no matter what. Is there any way to work around this and define a new default sort order? I thought about setting a script to run on login, but he wants different sorts for different tables. Any ideas?
  5. Hello there - Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Basically, I am creating timestamp fields that cover the beginning and end of reservations times. I'm wondering if there is a calculation function that will count the number of time overlaps and then post that information in a different field. For example, if I had one reservation from 3-5pm and another from 4-6pm, I want Filemaker to record that there is a conflict with the 2nd reservation.
  6. Hi, I'd appreciate any help or pointers I can get for this project. Basically, my office has three multimedia projectors to loan out to faculty, and we want to make the rental system with Filemaker. So I've created web forms and everything to enter name, date, and stuff like that - but now I need to figure out how to take care of date conflicts. My problem is that I need to make the system so that only 3 projectors can be checked out per day. So that if someone tries to enter a reservation and they are the 4th rental on that day, Filemaker will not validate and I can set up an error message. Right now I have 1 basic field called Projector Conflict. I want Projector Conflict to come up as "1" if it is the first reservation on a given day, "2" if it is the second, and "3" if it is the 3rd. So basically upon creation, I need Filemaker to check other records on a given day and report back with how many other reservations there are already. For example, if 4/30 has 2 reservations already, I want Projector Conflict to enter "3" the next time someone makes a reservation for 4/30. Any ideas on where to start?
  7. Thank you for looking into it - I found out last night that all I had to do was restart the server and the files worked themselves out. Thanks for the help.
  8. Hi Steven - Thanks for the response. I created a new database to test the sorting, and all fields are text fields and are fully indexed, but I still cannot sort through IWP. If you go to http://cfa-fmdb.bu.edu/fmi/iwp and login with username "help" and password "help" you can see what I mean. I would really appreciate any other suggestions. I'm really stuck. Thanks.
  9. Hi - I'm running a Filemaker Pro server and after I put databases on the server and set them to "Open" I can access them via Instant Web Publishing. But when I attempt to sort any of the data, nothing happens. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The web address of the server is http://cfa-fmdb.bu.edu/fmi/iwp
