We are looking to hire a temporary certified Filemaker genius... We have a network system of Filemaker Pro 9 and have hired the wrong developer to set up our gallery database. We now have all of our Inventopry and Clients into the system, but need to connect the databases and also fix some bugs in our Invoicing. I have been spending loads of time on filemaker and i almost feel like i would be in better shape if i started from scratch instead of had this woman come in and do it all wrong... How much is it to have someone with your knowledge to revamp the invoicing/client databases??

I have been working on a client and inventory database for an art gallery. The woman who we hired to set up filemaker has put everything in a mess for us. Right now the clients info are not connected to the invoices. So when something is sold the sales rep has to put in all of the info again..and that doesnt make sense at all. We bought Filemaker to make life easier...not harder! So I would like to know if we can connect the client database to the inventory/invoicing database. They are seperate entities and I hope we can connect the address/email/phone number/shipping address..etc.. The woman who set up our filemaker said that since we have about 4,000 clients and 5,000 pieces of art, it would be too much info to be connected and it wouldnt work properly. So I have been trying to clean up a mess on Filemaker that someone set us up wrong... The invoice is for a gallery. For our invoice, we have to have a Retail Price and a Sale Price (since we discount a lot) for every piece of art... Firstly, I would like the "retail price" to go into the "sale price" even if it is not on sale..because the below desired calculation needs to be a sum of the sale price. On the bottom of the invoice I have lined down.. "Total Sale Price" (pull from each item on invoice) "Tax" "Shipping Cost" (only once) Other (In this field I would like to show any Shipping Discounts, so maybe negative sometimes) "Total Invoice Cost" We need these to total up to give the correct amount for the invoice.. I need to know what field need to be "global" and I thought I could make this into a simple calculation but it is not working. What I have right now is.. Invoice Subtotal + Sales_Tax_Total + Shipping - Shipping Discount Please help me.. I am really new to filmaker!

Hi, I am really new to Filemaker Pro 9 and have been in charge of finishing the layouts for invoicing/inventory/client database since the person hired did not finish their job! I am stumped on Sales Tax.. Could someone help me step by step help me on how to do this script? The business is a gallery, so whenever we ship out-of-state we do not charge Sales Tax. Other wise we have New York State Tax which is .08375 and sometimes people come in from Westchester which is .0675. So somehow the field needs to be optional but still be part of a calculation.
