Getting the pathname of a file

Featured Replies

I posted a question yesterday about puttinga PDF file into a container field. I figured out how to do that. Now I have another related questions. If I insert a PDF object and click the link button when I put it into the container field, is there a way to get the pathname out of the container field and into another field? I would like to get the path from the link and then write a script so it will open the link automatically. Is this possible? I tried several different things but no luck so far.

Thanks,

John

Take a look at the Troi File plug-in. It is very useful for doing all types of file management. If you use it's dialog to capture a path, then use Troi file to perform the image import, the path will be availble for storage and later use.

I downloaded the demo file plug in. Have you used this before? Which function would I use to capture the file path from the link inserted into the container field? I tried several but couldn't get it to work. It may be that I didn't have them set up right.

Thanks,

John
