October 19, 20169 yr Hi, Does the first sync with a new problem make some kind of index of the remote client database AND the server database? If so, for a large database, is it worthwhile to ensure that the first sync with a new profile is done with a pwerful client on the same network as the server? Thanks, ft.
October 19, 20169 yr Yes, the first sync for a given configuration does make an index of the server database. However, all of this processing happens between the computer where MirrorSync is installed and the computer where the database is running (often these are the same computer). Therefore, it wouldn't speed up that part of the process at all to do it on a faster, locally connected computer. Since this first sync is slower, I would recommend having the developer / administrator run this sync before having users run their first sync. There are other parts of the initial sync that are affected by the processing power and network speed of the device, but only if there are a bunch of write operations happening (for instance, when syncing with an empty clone).
