import functions runtime solutions yes/no/how

Featured Replies

I am about to buy the Filemaker Developer, but I would appreciate 2 short answers from a Developer.

1) From within a runtime solution, so not with the help of Filemaker but just using the solution, lay-out mode is out of the question. Am I correct?

I know already that you can edit a runtime-solution with Filemaker (or Developer) under certain conditions, but that's not the issue, I want to know what the user can and cannot with only that runtime solution.

(Question asked because mail-merge implementation, and the way it is done, will be very tight bound without lay-out mode. No lay-out mode means for me to set this up more simple and straightforward)

2) And now the question the SUBJECT is about, I need to be sure that import functions as they do exist in Filemaker are available in a runtime solution also, especially with the option 'Matching names'. This in order to able the users to update to newer versions.

Thank you in advance.

1. Yes there is no Layout Mode in a bound 5.5 solution.

2. Yes there is Importing with Matching Names in bound 5.5 solutions.

Thanks for the answers. Today I signed the order bill for Developer 5.5 so whatever I encounter, I have to live with it!

Boy, I'd sure cancel that order...they're going to be shipping Dev 6.0 in September.

I didn't know, only today I noticed a version 6.0 Filemaker is available. Looks as if I'm a day too early. Did not find any announcement of Developer 6.0 on the Filemaker site. Did you?
