February 18, 20196 yr For the life of me I don't know why I can't wrap my head around this.. Table A Parent Record Table B Child record that is a selection of an item of Table A (This is a BOM Setup) I want to "cascade" down and sum up all the values of each child record but if the child had more "Childs" I need those values too. Basically it can be infinite.
February 18, 20196 yr For best performance you would want to go to the lowest level of the BOM and cache the summary total in to the parent as trying to aggregate data depending on how large the data set is can be taxing on performance. Alternatively you could create aggregate summary tables to store this data there are many examples how to provide this option over at filemakerhacks.com https://filemakerhacks.com/2018/05/30/fast-summaries-re-revisited/
