Service-Specific Error 10

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what a service-specific error 10 might be? (or more importantly what is causing it)

I am running NT 4.0 Service Pack 6 with FileMaker Server 5.0v2.

Approximately every 2 weeks the service crashes and this error appears in the event viewer. (FileMaker Server Service Terminated with a Service-Specific Error 10)

If I don't get any clues here in the forum, I'm going to try FileMaker's support.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know, but I have the feeling that the error is not a FileMaker error. I do know that it is not listed in FileMaker Help's list of errors [found under status(currenterror)].

It is probably related to Nice Try (NT).

Go to a command prompt and type "net helpmsg 10" and see if it returns any useful information.

I just tried that on the server.

I'm wondering if you are a Mac person.

The response the server gave me was...

"The environment is incorrect"

Now that's pretty funny!

I've actually never laid a hand on a Mac - If you typed my previous suggestion in with quotes remove the quotes - if you did not use the quotes then do the following:

net helpmsg /?

This will verify how to use the correct command syntax.

H:>net helpmsg /?

The syntax of this command is:

NET HELPMSG message#

and

H:>net helpmsg 10

The environment is incorrect.
