September 24, 20205 yr Hello all, I have an embarrassingly simple question but I can't find the answer to it: Let's say I have single-table, single-layout file with 10 items. I have 1 A, 2 Bs, 3 Cs, 4 Ds. There is a summary field "itemcount" which does what it says. Sorting by "item" I get A 1 B B 2 C C C 3 D D D D 4 I want to to export the 4 itemcount fields as in: 1 2 3 4 So far with any permutation of the setting in the Sort and Export windows I get this: 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 What are the correct settings to achieve what I need? Thanks (PS: I may ned the "Complete Idiot's Guide" version, sorry...)
September 24, 20205 yr First, sort by the Item field (or whatever the field you want to group by is called). Then, in the 'Specify Field Order for Export', dialog, check the Group by [Item] option and add the Item field and the summary field to the field export order. At this point, the dialog will display: Now select the summary field only (leaving the 'sCount by Item' pseudo-field in place) and remove it from the field export order. September 24, 20205 yr Author It took a while to realize that your instruction was to be taken very literally: FIRST you check the box and THEN you move the items. It worked. Thanks.
