Hi,

FM Server 18 and Mirrorsync 6.3 currently run on the same Mac Mini.

I need to migrate  to new hardware and FileMaker 19.

The IP address and DNS name will not be changing.

Please can you confirm that my users will not need to download a new version of the database if I follow the steps at paragraph "How do I migrate MirrorSync from one server to another?"on page http://docs.360works.com/index.php/MirrorSync_advanced_topics#How_do_I_migrate_MirrorSync_from_one_server_to_another.3F

This para seems to indicate there will be no downloads required by users but it would be helpful to know for sure.

Many thanks,

ft.

Yes, if the IP address and DNS name will not be changing, and you copy over the sync data as described in that document, then everything should work as if nothing happened.

We've tested that internally and it works. However, I should warn you that most of the time when our customers attempt to do it themselves, it doesn't work, and I'm not sure why. Maybe they're not following the instructions carefully. Be sure to set the permissions on the destination volume the same as how they existed on the source.
