Filemaker script to open a file and hide it's window

I created a file called "Open Notes File"

I want that file to execute a script that opens a Notes file and hides the window.

But when I try the following, it hides "Open Notes File" instead of the Notes file.

Open File [Open hidden:On ; "Notes" ]

How do I make this work so it hides the window for Notes instead of the Open Notes File?

The hide window function only acts on the file/script that it is run from.

No, that's not what happens. If you turned on the 'Open hidden' option, then the target file is opened in hidden state.

Perhaps you have a startup script in the target file that changes the initial state.
