Inverse color (black on white/white on black) for Month in date field?

I have a printed container label layout, for which a customer would like me to "invert" the colors of the Month of a date field.  Is there a creative way to accomplish this, aside from creating three fields to separate DAY, MONTH, YEAR and piece it together?

See attachment for goal.

I assume you mean a physical container, not a container field?

You could use three instances of the existing date field and format each one separately.

 

Another option might be a calculation field with these characters:

🅹🆄🅽

But you would have to make sure the used font supports them.
