Send mail via SMTP for Outlook

Featured Replies

I have users on FM18 advanced. Have not upgraded since they use runtimes and 18 is the last version for which runtimes are available.

I use the SMTP server for sending email and the process, which has worked for years, suddenly stopped working for their outlook accounts.

It used to be that the TLS, Plain Password options worked. But it appears Outlook is deprecating (or has deprecated) the Plain Password option. FM18 offers one other authentication method - Cram-MD5. it also doesn't work.

Outlook claims to have transitioned to something called OAUTH2. That option is not available in FM18.

Is this application dead in the water for Outlook users? Or is there some other way to get email to send via Outlook?

I believe the modern alternative is to connect to the service provider's API  - see:

However, I don't think this can work in a runtime:

Perhaps you could integrate a plugin? And you can still send mail via the user's email client.
