Hey guys, I have this field that uses a value list of checkboxes. For some reason, when I do a find; checking a checkbox and trying to perform the find, but I get this error regarding the checkbox field: -

"This field contains invalid find criteria, allow the invalid value?"

Because of this, the query will not work.... Can anyone explain to me what is causing the field to be invalid in general? And what would be the best way to fix it?

Thanxs

Hi Live Oak, the field is a: -

* Text Field

* No Validation options ticked, and indexing for the item is off, with the checkbox for "Turn indexing on if needed" checked on.

The values for the Value list is : -

Customer?

Use Gifts?

Buying Now?

Xmas?

Buys All Year

Buy Events?

Doesn't Buy Gifts

Design & Print?

Web/buy2?

These are just entered in the normal, bog-standard way of defining a value list.

I don't really know what could be causing the problem. There is a relationship set up on this field though, so I think I should get rid of the relationship just in case. I'll post my result once I do it in the next five minutes,

Thanxs

The problem almost certainly results from the fact that you have question mark characters included in a number of the values for the checkbox field.

In Find Mode, the question mark character serves as one of a number of special 'find operator' characters, where it serves the purpose of allowing you to search for invalid time and date entries. When entered into a text field in Find Mode in combination with text, it produces precisely the error message you are experiencing.

There are a few ways you could address this problem, but the simplest would undoubtedly be to remove the question marks from the value list. smile.gif
