October 8, 200223 yr I have a client database and a comments database in filemaker 6 on win 2000 and mac os9 and osX. In the client database I have a layout with a portal that shows all of the comments associated with this client as individual rows in the portal. Many of the individual fields in the portal are pop up menus with fixed value lists, just to set the stage. I would like to specify values in two or more of the fields in the portal to do a find that would perform like a boolean AND search. If I find based on more than one field in a request in the parent record, it acts like a boolean AND, which is no surprise to me. When I do a similar search in the portal for say: all faxes sent on 10/7, I am getting all of the faxes and all of any kind of activity on the 7th. Is there a way to use the portal in an AND condition? Any help with this would be much appreciated
October 8, 200223 yr You could create a combined field in the comments file, then do a search in the combined field. That's the quick answer; perhaps someone else will come up with an elegant answer. Dan
