Need help !

Installed 5.5 on a Mac with OS 8.6

Message said installation successful, but when trying to open FileMaker, it locks up. (The splash screen displays but stops while loading Aplle Talk.)

Have reinstalled a few times - same result.

Any ideas ?

Hi,

You need to do basic Mac troubleshooting. Restart with extentions off, allocate more RAM to FMP, check for bad fonts, etc.

May need an OS reinstall. You could have a corrupt Appletalk library or something.

And while youre at it, get OS9 or something.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

After some tinkering, I finally got it up and running.

I've got the boxes of OS 9 and X sitting on the desk, but this computer is used for the book publishing industry and would you believe that the files (and programs)we get are in some cases not compatable with anything over 8.6.

Gotta be able to please the customer........
