Dev 5.5 runtime MAC OS X compatible?

Featured Replies

Hello outthere,

As I am not planning to upgrade to Dev 6, and want to keep using 5.5..

my only uncertainty is:

Are solutions made with Dev5.5 Mac OS X compatible, or is in this light a Developer upgrade advisable/necessary?

(By the way, I do not mean the cooperation Dev5.5 with OS X, but the solutions made by it)

Yes, the runtimes built with Dev 5.5 work fine on OS X up to and including Jaguar. At least that has been the case for me.

I have had nothing but the troubles with 10.2 and developer AND fmp 5.5. Since the upgrade holding down the option key will never ask for the main file password but always goes it to the first file in the open script so I cannot to ever modify the main file. The same files work in 9 and 10.1.5 but never in 10.2 Then the developer always quits there in the middle of it never completing the process. I have to had to go back to 10.1.5 because it is not useable in the 10.2. Filemaker says they know of no not any of these problems.

i'm ready to take the plunge and buy the FMD package all over again because FM chooses not not offer an upgrade path. now i read about all these problems with 5.5 and 6.0 developer under OSX. so when they have a stable version under OSX, will they call that 6.5 and make me buy it over *again*? or what are the chances that there will be a bug fix release? anyone want to go out on a limb and make a guess?
