I've been looking for a navigation bar I saw in a demo in last few days. I opened up all of my kept ones (and I have a ton!) but I can't find it.

I currently have first, previous, next, last and find, new and delete buttons as individual icons. I'm thinking that since I've changed the layouts so much (to tabbed interface), that although a solid bar with buttons on it would be better - even if it is much plainer. It'll make the user's life easier as it's too busy-looking as it stands. I've attached what my bar looks like across the top where the tabs rest on. Thanks!

Hi Diana, when you say nav-bar, I think of Cobalt Sky's Dynamic Navigation Bar Engine. Then you say Status bar; I think I know what you mean. I stole it myself (smile), from John Osborne. I've attached it. The file is called StatusArea and it consists of 3 calc fields: found, sort & total. Create the calcs, place them in merge fields with regular text, slap them on a status bar, and you've got it! Go to his List layout to see it. I was very excited when I first found it!

There are tons of status bar implementations out there... but I am guessing from a few clues that it might be the one that I dropped into the OS X style tab-bar that you are looking for. You can find that in the Sample Files forum... the only template posted by me. HTH.

Oh brother! Downloading those sample files was the first thing I did when I found this forum!! Then, I found 20 other sites and downloaded all of theirs ... I probably have over 200 demo files! Thanks for reminding me. crazy.gif

Me, too. I dl all the sample files but I didn't see something I could use in this very particular case. I saw it on a demo, but it was probably a shareware demo which is why I don't have it any more.

Yup, that's the idea but now I know what I meant. These are flat buttons. I wanted to see how someone handled a round bar (since I'll be working with the bar I posted here). It's the pressed button that I'm wondering about.

Thanks, I may have to use that example after all.

Cheers all and thanks for the great weekend! I had fun and my db is coming along nicely. Off to work now before it gets any later!!! smile.gif

I went back and looked more closely at all the files. kennedy's starter template has the navbar at the top which is why I didn't see it until looking for this feature.

Thing is that all the controls are locks so can't see how he works it. Still, that's the type of navbar, if I can call it that, I need to incorporate in my db. A half cylinder bar and with all the usu. buttons on it for moving from record to record to find to how many records, etc.

If anyone sees a file like this anywhere, pls let me know. Again, it's a half-cylinder bar shape that will be used. smile.gif

ooooh, oooh (hand raised in the air), I know this one ... I think! You're talking about Cobalt Sky's Dynamic Navigation Bar Engine, file name Nav_Bar.fp5. I've attached it!

It is NOT locked... hold down Option while opening it and it will ask for a password... enter "master" as the password... you'll have full access.
