what problems did you have when exporting data to Word? easiest way is to export by tab-separation

I'm not sure for what reason you are exporting to word, however I use it for the following:

I have template documents in Word which are then "completed" by the data from filemaker.

If it's say a single document then you have to first search for the record in filemaker (you should have a key field) and export that record (i export it as a .mer file).

In word I then merge the form file (template) with the data record (.mer file from filemaker) to produce my document. Merge type is a form letter

If it's a report of all of your records in filemaker (and you export all records or more than one) then follow the above steps except the merge type will be 'catalog' (i generally put the fields i want into a table and catalog will then repeat the row with each record).
