November 6, 200223 yr Is there a script that can... If I enter a large field of text, insert my curser somewhere in the text, then hit a button, can the script with that button then insert text where my curser point is in the text field? And can the text it inserts be text from another field (I know how to do this part up to here)? And for the part I cant figure out...when it inserts the text from the other field can it maintain the formatting that the other field might have, in particular, the color of the text? The reason I ask is that I currently have a time stamp button that inserts the current date and time at the curser point in a text field. I was just trying to figure out way to have it be colored red. I figured my script could first insert the time stamp into a global field whose text is formatted red, then take the contents from the global field and insert it at the curser point in another field. November 7, 200223 yr One of the demo files kicking around on my web site shows just such a technique. You'd be welcome to download it and see if you think it would be suitable for your current requirement if you like. The web address to retrieve the demo file is: http://www.nightwing.com.au/FileMaker/demos/InsertFormattedText.zip It's password free so you can access the scripts, field definitions and layouts to see what's what. Hope that will give you something to work with.

November 7, 200223 yr My thoughts exactly, if it wasn't for the FileMaker gods on this board, who knows what I'd do.
November 11, 200223 yr Author yes indeed. Sure would be nice if features like this would be included in the core features, not user work arounds. Great solution Ray
