FM 5.5 Unlimited/Netscape - 100% CPU utilization

Featured Replies

FileMaker 5.5 Unlimited on Windows 2000 Professional (also tested on 2000 Server)

Netscape 6.2.1 on a PC

Netscape 6.1 on Mac

Databases are shared via Web Companion.

Internet Explorer 5, 5.5, and 6 can access the site with no problems. Netscape 6.2.1 crashes the site with 100% CPU utilization every time (tested from multiple PCs running 6.2.1)- sometimes the processor locks up immediately as the index page opens and sometimes it does not lock up until you actually query a running database but it always locks up. When the pages/databases are accessed from Netscape 6.1 running on a Mac it works fine. A new "clean" database and index page were created to rule out database corruption and the same problem occurs. No other software is running. Any help would be appreciated.

FM 5.5v2 may fix some of the problems associated with access by Netscape 6.2. However, we still had problems with WebCompanion on Win2k Pro; e.g. 100% cpu usage etc. So we moved it to OS X; now all is fine!

All the best.
