Multiuser login help

Featured Replies

HI

I have a login system based on 'kennedy template and login system' - http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=files&Number=46219&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=186&fpart=1 - where a user enteres a username and password which is working fine, but I want it to tie in with the built in password process within FileMaker. ie I have in the built in passwords

user1

user2

user3

user4

Now general users will when they login will be assigned the default built-in login password of user1, but I have the need for a group to have the built-in login to user 2, another group to user 3 and another group to user4, each user password has a different set of editing and access priveledges based on the built-in passwords as set.

I've probably confused you all but I hope I make sense to someone, or I am going about the login process all wrong, by all means enlighten me smile.gif.

Thx

You'll need multiple launcher files, each of which automatically enters the correct password.

I just implemented a system like this. First I get the username and password via a dialog. This is then validated against the users security DB and then the appropriate launcher is run which supplies the correct Filemaker password.

Thx for the info - any chance you would care to share your login solution so I can see hoe it works and then apply it to mine.

Thx again

We implemented that with 2 plugins straight to FM, no opener files for 50 users.

First there is Simple Dialog from www.24u.cz and second plugin is Dialog Magic from New Millennium.

User will never know real FileMaker password.
