Server not finding partitioned file locat. for BU

Featured Replies

Hey all!

I recently set up FM Server 5.5 on Windows 2000 server to BU to a partitioned drive. I get an error message from server stating that server was unable to find the folder to BU. I changed to a folder on the same directory as FM server and had the same problem. Any of you awsome experts have any ideas what might be the problem?

Dr. Ken

For FM server is better to use dedicated computer with W2000 workstation. Without any other sharing On.

And in any case -- leave the installation as default.

Then copy all databases set to multi-user to the same directory as FM server or directory within FM server directory.

Thank You...

This solves my problem, although it raises a couple additional questions.

1) Why does server allow me to map the backup to other directories if it only BU to its own.

2) I will need to change my directory structure of the original database If server will only BU down one directory level (I have three directory levels in my database). Is there a way to change from three levels to one without having to redo all of the links within my DB?

TIA

Dr. Ken

I guess when everything will be served, then all will be working at least 50%.

If you are doing changes to links, do it through HOST button and not through file Open window.

What is BU?

Ken -

I'm a little unclear on your problem. You say the "server was unable to find the folder to BU" which seems to imply the actual folder you want to back up cannot be found but your subject line implies it is the back up location that cannot be found - which is it? What is the exact error message?
