is changing field mapping really this frustrating?

Featured Replies

I'm working on a solution that involves me doing a LOT of importing. I'm getting pretty frustrated moving the fields up and down in the "Import Field Mapping" dialog. Dragging the fields past the top or bottom yields insanely fast scrolling, and I always overshoot what I'm looking for. Is there a better way to do this, possibly with the keyboard?

Are you peforming the same import repetitively?

You can save the present import setup using a script.

Just use the script step "Import", and select the option to "Restore".

Whenever you activate that script, it will start an import with the same settings as you were using when you created the script.

On a Mac you can use the "Option" key on a selected field and then up/down arrow to scroll at the repeat rate set on the keyboard.

Maybe this is the "Alt" key on WINDOZE !

Good advice from Jason aswell.

yeah, i've got scripts for the repeated imports, but i'm collecting data from a variety of different sources, and find that i have to spend way too much time matching up fields.

Mark, THANKS! That's exactly what I was looking for. I just tried it, and under windows it's the CTRL key, but the functionally is the same as you described. Wonderful!
