Losing Newly Defined Relationships for reasons ???

I have been writing new DB for many months and recently learned that when I try to define new relationships in the define window, the new relationship is defined and the number of relationships in incremented by one, but when I close the define window and re-open the window, the newly defined relationship is there, but it has overwritten an already existing relationship.

I made a copy of the DB and tried to define "x" number of new relationships, and when I close and re-open the Define Relationship window, there are not "x' new relationships; the new relationships are present, but there are now "x" number of older relationships lost.

Can anyone shed any light as to how to fix this disaster? I have tried to "recover" the DB but the Recover function does not report any problems.

I am writing with FM Pro 6. Everything else regarding the DB is running okay.

Are you sure your not clicking the "Edit" button? Not the "New" button?

The "Edit" button in the default button if you press enter when there is already relationships defined.

The problem is as stated above. If I was editing a relationship, That would have been included in the description above.

I had to fix the problem the old fashion way, but still am unaware as to how or why the problem ever existed in the first place. I don't know if there is a serious bug with Filemaker Pro or not. The problem existed whether I used the Developer program, and also on Mac and PC platforms.

If this has ever happened to anyone, please email me. Thanks.

PS I called Filemaker Tech Support, and they could offer no help.

If there was such a bug, it surely will be a disaster for everybody here. We would certainly have been aware from this behaviour.

I cannot think of another answer that the one Eric gave you.

When defining relationships in the Define Relationship sections, do you really see the list of x relationships created ? Or are you always using the same relationship, modifying it again and again. There is no "save as" function for relationships...

Maybe this is obvious. If not, just in case, try establishing another relationship without using te define menu. Just create a calc field A+B, then go in Options to set the calc definitions. Up at the left is a popup with all relationships you can use. Go in it and see if your relationships are setted. If not, go at the end of popup and select "Define". Make sure you click on "new".

Do not know if this could change something !!!
