drags Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 I have 2 related databases. Database 1, with a name field that is shown in a portal related to database 2. The user of database 1 can edit both. I want the user of database 2 not to be able to change anything in database 1. I've tried to set a password on on both databases with groups and this works except on the field with the portal. This is the field I need to have restricted. Thank you Kevin
Anatoli Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Couldn't you just uncheck "Allow entry into field"?
drags Posted January 18, 2003 Author Posted January 18, 2003 No I can't because user 1 needs to be able to change that field. Kevin
Razumovsky Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 You could create 2 identical layouts with the portal in database 2, one (layout A) with "Allow entry into field" checked, and one (layout : with it un-checked. Using your groups, disallow access to Layout A for your user with limited clearance. you could put an "edit" button on Layout B that would let you user with clearance access it. hth
drags Posted January 21, 2003 Author Posted January 21, 2003 I did not think of that. Good Idea. Thank You Kevin
