Password for portals , related files

Featured Replies

I have 2 related databases.

Database 1, with a name field that is shown in a portal related to database 2.

The user of database 1 can edit both.

I want the user of database 2 not to be able to change anything in database 1.

I've tried to set a password on on both databases with groups and this works except on the field with the portal. This is the field I need to have restricted.

Thank you

Kevin

Couldn't you just uncheck "Allow entry into field"?

No I can't because user 1 needs to be able to change that field.

You could create 2 identical layouts with the portal in database 2, one (layout A) with "Allow entry into field" checked, and one (layout : with it un-checked. Using your groups, disallow access to Layout A for your user with limited clearance. you could put an "edit" button on Layout B that would let you user with clearance access it.

I did not think of that. Good Idea.
