Move Record to another File with Relationships

Hello

Here's the setup. I have four files, Orders.fp5 with a relationship to Order_Items.fp5, displayed in a portal and a similar connection between a file Invoices.fp5 with a relationship to Invoice_Items.fp5. What I want to do is, once an order is closed, to move the record over to Invoices and taking all the related records from Order_Items over to Invoice_Items. How would this be done?

I've managed to move the main record (from Orders) over to Invoices by script (using the Set Field command). But i don't know how to loop through the related records.

I hope this is understandable. Thanks for your help.

Why not import them?

make the completed order the only one in the found set

go to related records (show only...)order::orderitems

perform script (external-Invoice (import from order) )

Perform script (external-invoice items(import from order items))

perform script (external-OrderItems(delete found records))

delete record(no dialog)

you could also consider combining these four files into 2, and using a field to identify if an order has been completed (becomes an invoice).

thanks.

import sounds like a good idea.

i was thinking about having it in 2 files only, but my version seemed better for backup reasons. i'll have the records locked in the invoice files,

thanks for your suggestion. this'll solve my problem.
