what's that star for?

Featured Replies

sometimes a Perform Script script step appears in the list as

Perform Script [scriptname (*)]

i think this may be true for scripts that have been imported, but i'm not sure. when i click the scriptname, the star goes away, but when i open the script up again, it is back. what does the star mean?

I asked a very similar question a few weeks ago, only I was seeing IP addresses rather than a star (presumably the IP of my machine the last time I edited the script confused.gif. The answer I got was simply "don't worry about it" crazy.gif

If you see an IP address, it means that you have the file set to multi user and your network settings are turned on. This means that if you reference an external script it tags that script with the machines IP address.

Now, what this means is when you put it out on your network and the server's IP address is different to that of the machine that was used to create the database and scripts, it will first look for that machine's IP. Not seeing it, it will then look for any machine hosting the files, and when it finds one will use the scripts from that machine.

The star means that the file was created on a machine that had its networking turned off, thus the IP address is not recorded.

I think that is about right anywho... give or take a couple of words

Bottom line -------- Don't worry about it. No-one else does!!!!
