Inserting dyn data into the "Show Message" step

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I don't know if this is possible or not, but I don't see why it shouldn't be, but is there anyway that you can put a database field or a calculation result into the "Show Message" step? At the mo I can only put static text into the field.

It ain't very flexible,

Any help would be most appreciated.

Upgrade to FMP 6.0 for the "Show Custom Dialog" script step which allows a message based on a field and up to three field entries.

Alternatively there are some plug-ins around that allow custom dialog messages.

Thanxs for the reply... ho hum... upgrade to V6...? I wonder if there's worth me doing that

Make a Dialog.fp5 file, make a layout looking like a dialog box, put some buttons and some global fields to hold data, have fun enjoying the multitude of things you can achieve with the trick ;-)

I don't think upgrading is worth it if you're running 5.5. Make your life easier and get one of the dialog plugins, like Troi. Even better if you run exclusively on Windows, is WinBatch...its more expensive than one of the dialogs, but it does so much more.
