Specifying text color within a script

Featured Replies

I have a script that is very simple that when the user clicks on a button it adds their username, date and time to a comment field, the next person that comes into this record it adds their comment to the bottom of the field and so on...I would like this text to be in a particular color can I automate that? I dont want all the text in this field to be that color just the text they are adding by performing this script.

Any ideas?

Hi jldb4jlk,

An often requested feature that FMI has yet to address is the ability to change text attributes on the fly, or through calculations.

The standard answer for this question is FileMaker can not do this natively.

There are ways to change the color of text in a field, but I have not seen it where the current entry is in color and the rest of the entries are black, blue, or whatever. To see what is involved, there is a sample file in the "Sample Files" by Russ Baker, called HandyBits (I believe) anyway, he updated the file so it would be the second attachment, not the one in the very first entry by Russ.

There is also a couple of example files that you may want to check out at www.fmfiles.com
