Portalists Help! Single record repeats in portal.

Featured Replies

I'm new to portals (obviously! This must be SIMPLE!!).

Database "Report" has a portal showing records in database "Line Items." Relationship is specified in Report database, relating to Line Item database using a Volume Number field, which is identical in both databases. Sorted by a sort field in Line Items database.

In testing, I have 3 records in the Line items database with the same Volume Number value.

Only the one with the lowest sort value appears in the portal of the Reports database, but it is repeated for a total of 4 lines!!

After banging my head against the wall, I still can't figure it out!! confused.gif

Two common portal mistakes:

1. Upper left corner of field is not completely within portal row.

2. Field is from current file rather than from related file.

I think your problem is 2.

Nope!

Both were done correctly.

I solved it by re-creating the portal, re-inserting the fields, and it's OK!

I have no idea why, but I still have the old one, and I verified that 1 & 2 were correct.

Must be corruption, or something.

Thanks for your reply!

I had the same issue happen today... and I figured out why.

If you double click on the portal and change the relationship used to define the portal.. the fields within the portal are still "linked" to the "old" relationship. If you edit the portal to a new relationship, you will have to go to each field within the portal and select the new relationship and the proper field assocaited with it...
