ODBC connection help needed

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I'm trying to import data from Excel via ODBC on Win XP. As soon as I select Excel as the ODBC source, FM asks me for the user name and password. (This also happens if I choose Access or any other of my ODBC sources.) I've never set up a password for any of my ODBC sources, and I don't see a place to do so in the ODBC manager. I'm transfering data via these driver in other applications, and passwords are never required. What's going on?

Thanks for any help,

Dan

OK,

Kinda-sorta figured this out. If I use the ODBC manager to create a new data source and use the excel driver and point it to a specific file, then it works. It asks me for a password, but doesn't complain when there isn't one.

So is this how it is supposed to work? Is there any way to use a driver that doesn't have a specific file associated with it, that lets the user pick it herself?

Thanks,

Dan

I want to link ArcView mapping application to my FileMaker Pro soil survey database via ODBC. However, I can't see FileMaker Pro ODBC drivers as an option in the Windows ODBC dialogs. I am attaching some pics to explain the problem This is despite the fact that FMP has Local Data Access Companion and sharing enabled.
