Greetings:

I am working on a custom comic book database for myself. I have the standard fields involving title, issue number, etc., and am working on summarizing everything via each different comic book title (i.e., a list of each issue per title, and the like). This is where I need help.

I have a drop down menu listing the different titles. I would like to make a selection from the drop down menu, then after I make the selection, automatically find all comics under that title, sort them according to number, and then display the list in a certain layout. Using the script I have so far, it works, but after I select the title, I have to click to continue the script, then click again to finish the find. Is there any way I can do this without having to click twice after I make the title selection?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Don Knecht

Sounds like you are clicking to enter Find mode and pause, then selecting the title, then clicking to continue the Find.

Instead, you could use a global field to select the title, then just one click to run a script like this:

Enter Find Mode

Set field (title, globalTitle)

Perform Find

Sort

Go to layout

DON'T use the Restore or Pause option for the Find.

Or

oAzium Events from Waves in Motion www.wmotion.com

SCRIPTit from Community Networking www.cnsplug-ins.com

Oh, and if you choose the SCRIPTit plugin this one boasts custom XML menu's.

These look better than value lists because:

a. the field doesn't even have to exist on that layout

b. they can be sorted how YOU want to sort them

c. they can be created from FM value lists, Hand coded in scripts or even be built from a portal

d. you can also have a hidden identifier related to each choice

Oh, and did I mention that when you make a choice you can have a script automatically run.

(Just so you have some other options!!)
