I have taken all the students in the colleges picture and stored them on Filemaker. I want to export all the pictures into JPG files with a field name as the file name. Filemaker will not allow me to export container fields.

Is there anyway to export the pictures into another file or in to a jpg file.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This is one you really wanted to consider before you setup the system. It would have been best to import the jpg files as references, rather than images (which converts them to pict). You could have stored references or thumbnails of the actual images. Then to "export" as jpg, all you would have needed to do is copy the external files to the appropriate place. To create thumbnails and move files around from within FM, I like the Troi File plug-in.

I am currently using a web camera and Troi Grabber on a PC network using FM Pro 5 and FM Pro Server. The Majority of the photographs are on although the new intake will have to be taken.

How do I reference to a picture?? Does this show up when in FM i.e. Click on student name and see a picture of the student.

The display in FM is identical. When you import a picture file you are given a choice to Insert the actual image or "Store only a reference to the file". If you use Troi File to import pictures, a similar option is available.

If this is a multi-user, networked solution. Storing references requires they be on a mounted shared volume available to all users.

It does not appear that Troi Grabber supports storing grabbed images as file references. You can share these images the web and that route has been used to export images out of FM.
