Is it possible to go to a field have it highlighted so that you can either accept the text that is in it already or type over it and enter your own and then activate a script within the field by hitting the enter key?

Hi Dobbers,

First question = have a field highlight when entering it.

Yes, go to Layout Mode, select the field or fields that you want to apply this to, then go to the Menu - Format - Field Format, you will see a check box at the bottom Select entire content when entering field. Make sure it is Checked.

Second Question = Activate a script upon exiting a field.

This is one of the most FAQ that I know of. Short answer, No, not natively in FileMaker. There are a couple of plugins that will do this, since I don't use them, I can't help you with the right one.

However, there are a couple of workarounds that approach this. One use a lopping script and its called:

Lee,

I faced a similar problem myself and, after reading your post and "ran" as fast as I could to the URL you posted to pull down that script example. The problem is, the script file is an FP3 file. I just finished upgrading to FP6 and, when I try to open the script file, FP6 doesn't recognize it as a Filemaker file.

Any ideas?

Which one?

I should mention that one of these files has several versions, one of which does *not* work on the Mac. So be sure you look at the icon next to the file and down load the one for your operating system.

I will also test which ever one doesn't work in 6 if you let me know which one.
