Frustrated connecting to FMserver

Featured Replies

Ok I know this will be a really odd ball question but Im so confused.

Im trying to connect to a FileMaker Pro Server from home Using my local RoadRunner service but I can not connect for some reason.

A co-worker using the same cable provider and RR has the same problem.

BUT Another developer that uses RR from a different cable provider can see the databases just fine.

Heres where it gets loopy.

I can host a FileMaker file on my machine at home and connect to it from the office but not vice versa.

ANY Suggestions cause Im getting more grey hair by the minute and RR "says tough mule muffins not a program we support."

Any Firewall or router between points has to have port 5003 open.

HTH

No no firewall, no router. I have set up several routers for FileMaker this being one of them on the FMServer, so I know thats set up correctly.

Other people on other ISP's can connect to the FMServer without any problem.

Even people using RR via another cable provider can connect but that shouldnt matter if RR is handling the traffic?

Home machine is running OSX 10.2.4 default settings for a cable modem connection.

Like I said what is strange is I can host a file on my home machine and connect to that machine from the outside. BUT I can not connect from my home machine to another filemaker machine ?

Sure does point to your ISP as blocking something.

You can test this from telnet:

>telnet the.ip.address 5003

for instance, you can test a web server as

>telnet the,ip.address 80
