Hi Guys,

I have Hi Guys,

I've created a database with record level security using the Access priviliges in FileMaker Pro 6.

The formula limits the user to edit records they have created which is great. My problem is the error message

FileMaker produces if the user tries to edit a record they dont have access to "This field is

not modifiable".

Is there any way I can display my own custom error message, as this is not useful to the user.

Thanking all in advance

Hi,

Hmm...Your own error messages.

Well, here is an attachment for the file I'm currently rebuilding. Do not pay too much attention to the file itself as I will post the definitive file when it is over.

When downloaded, here are the steps.

1. Click into a Name field as if you wanted to edit it.

You will get a error message. In the future, this message will be sensitive to the passwords set in a value list.

2. Click the locker. You will get a message that ask you if B)

- you want to definitively unlock this record

- you want to keep relock it automatically after the changes are made.

Choose "remember me"

You wll have a logo appear at the left high corner of the screen.

3. Click in the tab for "New entry" and you will have a flashing error message.

This file is built in FM .5.5.

I really hesitated to post this file as it is in construction, but I'm sure someone could find it somehow funky.

I swear I'll post the definitive file as soon as it is working.
