macaroni Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 Everytime I create a runtime solution using FM Developer, I need to restart. I can create one and if I create another one it would unexpectedly quit on me during compiling part. But when I restart I can create another runtime solution and then if I need to create one again I need to restart again... This is driving me insane...... Any ideas how to fix this?
Pupiweb Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 AFAIK there is a problem when *dragging* files onto the Dev Tool, so there is a suggestion to choose files using the navigation dialog
macaroni Posted March 19, 2003 Author Posted March 19, 2003 Good to know thanks...I do have another problem. When I try to rename one of the DBs, I get an error saying to make sure that the database is close and I have enough disk space..... I want to rename one of my DBs from Client to "Solutions Provider" and it is my primary file which serves as my main window of my app. I checked and non of my DBs are open and yes I have enough disk space. I know it is supposed to fix the internal links of scripts as well when I rename it... What could be the problem?
okrauth Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 I also have the same problem... but it happens all the time, even if I use the Select file button it just quits... I purchased the software weeks ago and I still haven't been able to bind a single file yet.... I've tried it on several macs.. all running the latest OSX 10.2.4... same results!!! any ideas before I return the products to FileMaker?? Otto
alcam Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 I too had the same problem trying to bind files under OS X 10.2.4 - "Select File" didn't help even after deleting all FMD pref files. In the end the only method that worked was using a Mac that still had OS X 10.1 running. And the resulting Runtime seems to work fine on 10.2.4.
danjacoby Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 The thing about FM Developer is that it's not designed to "edit" your bound solution. Regarding troubles in OSX, I just bound a 14-file solution in OS 10.2.1 with no problem at all. It opens and runs just fine. I have a hunch that 10.2.4 may be the problem.
deckard Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 I have the same problem (crashes when compiling) every single time, but am running 10.2.3. Any other solutions out there?
Newbies Onederdog Posted March 27, 2003 Newbies Posted March 27, 2003 I'M USING FILEMAKER DEV. 6 AND MAC OS 10.2 AND THIS APPLICATION CRASHING WAS HAPPENING TO ME TOO. HERE WAS MY SOLUTION. I MAKE A COPY OF WHATEVER FILES I'M BINDING, ON THE DESKTOP. THEN I MAKE SURE THAT FILEMAKER DEVELOP IS QUIT. THEN I OPEN THE DEVELOPER TOOL AND BIND. THE PROBLEM HASN'T HAPPENED SINCE. IT SEEMED LIKE HAVING BOTH FILEMAKER DEV. AND THE DEV. TOOL OPEN AT THE SAME TIME WAS CREATING A CONFLICT. PERHAPS A SHARED LIBRARY OR SOMETHING. BRUCE ONEDERDOG SOFTWARE
Newbies davincho Posted March 27, 2003 Newbies Posted March 27, 2003 I have the same problem with FMD6 (v6.03) with MacOS X 10.2.3 for my solutions...But I tryed the next "solution": Close you session and open in ROOT mode (not admin or user)... then copy the databases and make you solution -NOT DRAG & DROP THE FILES, ADD THEM WITH THE BUTTON Add Files... - (for now, this work just fine for my)
danjacoby Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 Hey, Bruce, Good point. You may be on to something. One request, however -- please don't use all caps. It comes across as shouting. Thanx.
Newbies Onederdog Posted March 31, 2003 Newbies Posted March 31, 2003 Sorry, I'm usually just to lazy to reach the shift key when I need it. Bruce
