freelancer Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 I hope someone can help me with that! I removed all the files I was working on from the FMServer during the time I set the layouts order. When I was finished with that and wanted to put it back on the Server(like I do every day of the week). The problem is when I go on "Open Remote -- I select the Server -- I click Open File" it shows me every other file in the filemaker folder, except the one I want to put back on the Server. I tried to drag it, and I got an error message saying the file was in use (it's not...) or it was protected (I didn't do any changes...and it was working fine before...).... I thought maybe the file wasn't closed properly so I reopened it and then closed it...but it's still doing the same thing.... Could someone please help me....I don't know what the problem is... Thanks!!
Kurt Knippel Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 By "remove" you mean that you pulled the files out of the folder? Basically I think that you may be messing around with copies of live files, or you are working with some combination of live and offline files. Here is the procedure that you should have followed: Close All DBs from FILEMAKER SERVER Quit Filemaker Server Move the files to your machine for editing Complete your edits Move files back to the Filemaker Server machine Open Filemaker Server Open all DBs.
Anatoli Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Omission: Close All DBs from FILEMAKER SERVER Quit Filemaker Server (not that important on windows) B A C K U P Everything!! Move the files to your machine for editing Complete your edits Move files back to the Filemaker Server machine Open Filemaker Server Open all DBs.
bbaliner Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Oh, and make sure you delete the coppies of your files from your local machine afterwords. You might end up serving those files from your local machine, thinking that the Server is servinfg them.
